Privacy policy
Short version: the extension itself runs entirely on your own computer — there's no account, no server, and your conversations are never sent to us or anyone else. Our website uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic.
What the extension does
Grok to PDF, Docx, Markdown exporter adds an “Export” button to Grok (grok.com). When you click it, the extension reads the conversation that’s already open in front of you and turns it into a PDF, a Word (.docx) file, or Markdown, then saves that file to your computer. That’s the whole job.
What we collect
The extension itself collects nothing. We don’t run a backend for the exporter, we don’t have a database, and there’s no place for your conversations to go. We don’t see your chats, your account, or anything you export.
Analytics
This website (grok-to-pdf.com) uses Google Analytics to understand overall traffic — things like which pages are visited and roughly how many people visit. This is standard web analytics for the marketing site, separate from the extension, and it never has access to your Grok conversations or exported files.
Google Analytics uses cookies and may collect information such as your IP address, browser, device type, and pages viewed. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
What stays on your device
Everything. The conversation is read, cleaned up, and rendered into a file right inside your browser. The finished file is handed to Chrome’s normal download manager. A small list of which messages or chats you’ve ticked for export is kept in your browser’s local storage so your selection sticks between sessions — that never leaves your machine either.
Network requests
The extension only talks to Grok’s own domains, and only to do the export you asked for:
- grok.com — to read the conversation you’re exporting.
- assets.grok.com — to fetch the images and diagrams Grok generated inside the chat, so they can be embedded in your file instead of showing up blank.
That’s it. The extension makes no requests to us or to any third party, and it doesn’t send your conversation anywhere.
Permissions, in plain English
- Access to grok.com — so the export button and reader can work on the page you’re looking at.
- Tabs — to briefly open and close helper tabs while building your file (for example, when exporting several chats at once).
- Downloads — to save the finished PDF / Word / Markdown file to your computer.
- Debugger — Chrome only lets extensions create a real, print-quality PDF through this API. It’s attached only to the extension’s own temporary tab and detached the moment the file is ready — never to your Grok tab or anything else.
Third parties
We don’t sell, share, or transfer any Grok conversation data, because the extension never collects any in the first place. The only third party involved is Google Analytics on our website, which processes standard traffic data under Google's privacy policy.
Children
The extension isn’t directed at children and doesn’t knowingly collect anything from anyone, regardless of age.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above.
